Walter Mzembi Launches New Political Party {Full Text}
Exiled former cabinet minister Walter Mzembi, former government officials and other Zimbabweans based in the diaspora have launched a new party called People’s Party.
The party has since written a letter to the Westminster Foundation introducing itself. Below is the full text of the letter:
Dear Sir/Madam
FeedbackPEOPLE’S PARTY – ZIMBABWE: LETTER OF INTRODUCTION
With the authority vested in the Guardian Council, the highest decision-making body within the Party, I write to introduce the People’s Party.
The People’s Party is a political formation duly registered in terms of the laws of Zimbabwe. People’s Party will seek the people’s mandate to govern Zimbabwe in the next election and successive elections.
The People’s Party has invited the former Zimbabwe Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Walter Mzembi as the interim President, deputised by myself Former Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary education, Science and Technology Development, Dr Godfrey Gandawa and the London based Secretary-General Adv. Lloyd Msipa. The rest of the leadership will be availed upon request.
We are a political party that believes Zimbabwe belongs to all who live in it. The mission of the People’s Party is to establish for the first time in our history, a fair and just society which will enable the people of Zimbabwe to unleash their talents and ingenuity so that their potential can be fully realised.
