President Emmerson Mnangagwa has with immediate effect made key changes within the President’s Department.
Brigadier general (Rtd) Asher Walter Tapfumaneyi and Gatsha Mazithulela have been appointed as deputy director generals in the President’s office.
The changes were revealed through a statement by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda. He said:
Retired Brigadier General Tapfumaneyi also served in the president’s department from 2005 to 2009 where he rose through the ranks to the rank of assistant director. He is a holder of several academic qualifications among them, master of science in international relations and Masters of Business Administration. He is a veteran of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle.
… He (Dr Mazithulela) is a renowned scientist who holds a PhD in Genetic engineering and a Master of Business Administration among several qualifications. He is a member of the National Defence University of Zimbabwe Council and is Chairman of the National Authority of the Chemical Weapons Convention (OPCW), Zimbabwe chapter, among his several appointments.
