July Moyo "Orders Army And ZANU PF Youths To Invade And Loot" Farm Belonging To Opposition Leader

Opposition leader, Daniel Shumba who is also a businessman and former member of the ruling ZANU PF has claimed that Local Government Minister, Hon July Moyo instructed the army and ZANU PF youths to invade and loot his farm.

Shumba formed his second opposition political party named the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in February 2018. His first, the United People’s Party (UPP) was formed in 2006 following his dismissal from Zanu PF over his involvement in the Tsholotsho debacle that allegedly sought to elevate Mnangagwa ahead of former Vice-President Joice Mujuru, who was Mugabe’s preferred choice. Shumba posted on Twitter and said:

Gangsters who include the army and Zanu PF youths were directed to invade and loot my farm by July Moyo. This was a replacement farm after having been kicked off I hold title in Mvurwi. These thugs don’t respect the rule of law.

These remarks are made merely days after a number of former ZANU PF members including the nephew of former president Mugabe, Patrick Zhuwao and former Higher and Tertiary Education Minister, Professor Jonathan Moyo also indicated that their farms were being taken by the State.

Some observers expressed concern over the developments arguing that they emanate from the chaotic way through which the land reform programme was implemented.
