Renowned lawyer Beatrice Mutetwa will be the lead counsel in Job Sikhala‘s trial which is set to start on 3 February, New Zimbabwe reports.
This was revealed by Sikhala’s previous lawyer who was withdrawing the defence outline he submitted last year. According to the publication:
Jeremiah Bhamu, who represented the Zengeza West legislator when he made his initial appearance at the Masvingo High Court Monday, told the court he was seeking to withdraw his defence outline he submitted last year as Sikhala will now be represented by Mtetwa.
Bhamu later told journalists that human rights lawyers had consented to have Mtetwa as the lead counsel during the trial.
Meanwhile, according to the publication, the state has reportedly lined up 4 witnesses mostly state security agents to testify against Wiwa as he is affectionately known by his fans.
