Middendorp Gives Detailed Update On Billiat's Fitness
Kaizer Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp said Khama Billiat could be ready to play in the next two weeks, with plans to have his full integration into training in the next week.
Middendorp revealed that Billiat has been on an “instituted medical treatment programme” following a hamstring injury which he aggravated during the club’s 1-1 draw with Maritzburg United on December 22. Said the German:
Khama Billiat has had a similar programme since the middle of December, like (Reeve) Frosler, who could only play a maximum of 45 minutes today (against Arrows) and he’s okay, there was no handicap.
FeedbackKhama last played against Maritzburg on December 22 and we decided to take him out – and now this week we don’t have a game and we will take him into the training programme.
It can be possible that we get him right in the next two weeks, but if we need a week more, we will take it. But in the next week or so he should be available to be fully integrated.
Middendorp was speaking to reporters following Amakhosi’s narrow 1-0 win against Golden Arrows on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Chiefs do not play again until February 8 when they host GladAfrica Championship side Royal Eagles in the opening round of the Nedbank Cup.
