Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao, the former African Union (AU) ambassador to the United States has said that the “illegal” sanctions which the West imposed on Zimbabwe need to be removed as they are hurting the general populace.
She is speaking when Zimbabweans are comparing and contrasting the effects of both sanctions are and maladministration.
Some analysts say that corruption is the country’s biggest challenge and the removal of sanctions will do less to help the situation.
Meanwhile, the governing party – ZANU PF, which admits that corruption is rampant and needs to be dealt with, says over two decades of sanctions have choked the country’s efforts to develop.
