The president has been sucked into GMAZ and GMB loan saga which unveiled in parly yesterday, Newsday reports. The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture quizzed GMAZ Chair Tafadzwa Musarara about the money Musarara claims GMAZ advanced to GMB which GMB denied ever receiving and Musarara in his response said:
Sometime in late 2016, the then chairman of the Cabinet committee on food security, now President Emmerson Mnangagwa, approached the milling industry, saying Command Agriculture was successful and there was a big harvest, but silos needed to be funded, but Treasury did not have the money
After GMB denied they received money from GMAZ, Musarara went on to say the president said Musarara gave the money to refurbish the silos referring to a video in which the president said so while addressing a Zanu PF Rally.
GMB and Treasury have however denied that GMAZ gave GMB money to refurbish the silos.
