TIMB Yet To Announce Opening Date For Tobacco Season
The Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board (TIMB) will consult with stakeholders before it sets the opening dates for the 2020 tobacco marketing season.
This was revealed by TIMB chief executive, Andrew Matibiri on Thursday. He said:
We are going to consult with other stakeholders before we come up with the opening dates.
FeedbackThe stakeholders will come up with the recommendations which will be taken on board when deciding when to open the floors.
The tobacco marketing season normally starts in March every year and farmers have already started preparing for the marketing season.
Meanwhile, tobacco farmers want the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) to simplify access to the US dollar component of their proceeds, including a portion to be withdrawn in cash.
