Stanford Biti has said that the opposition innZimbabwe, particularly the MDC led by Nelson Chamisa was neglecting its duties as an opposition in the country.
Biti said that the party should be proactive rather than reactive. Posting on Twitter, Biti said:
Sometimes @mdczimbabwe or the opposition appears to be very comfortable with the situation in Zimbabwe. Pastor Chiwenga is taking the role which I think the opposition should take. We cannot be a wait and see political party.
These remarks are said when the clergyman, Apostle Chiwenga has mocked the government over its plan to revive garrison shops which are meant to cushion members of the security sector from the hyperinflationary economy.
The preacher alleges that the planned shops are meant to pacify security forces so that they would not resist orders to beat people during protests.
This is happening when Zimbabwe has plunged into an economic and humanitarian crisis that has resulted in workers threatening to revolt against the government over the crisis.
