Caster Semenya Announces Decision To Compete In The 200-Meter Race In Tokyo After Refusing To Take Hormone Reduction Drugs

Caster Semenya using Instagram announced her decision to try and qualify to compete in the 200-meter race in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics set for July this year, CBC sports reports. The 200-meter race doesn’t require that Caster take drugs to reduce her testosterone hormones levels.

Announcing her decision Caster said:

This decision has not been an easy one but, as always, I look forward to the challenge and will work hard, doing all I can to qualify for Tokyo and compete to the best of my ability for South Africa,

Caster was last year banned from competing in the 800-meter race unless she took some drugs to reduce her testosterone hormones levels which the IAAF board said gave her an unfair advantage over other female athletes.
