US$39 Million Siphoned From ZINARA Through Opaque Deals
Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) board chairperson Michael Madanha on Monday claimed that the parastatal was prejudiced of US$39 million through underhand dealings.
Madanha was giving oral evidence before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Transport and Infrastructural Development. The millions were syphoned through:
… over payment of road projects, flouting of tender procedures, payment of incomplete work, cherry-picking of contractors without following due process among a cocktail of irregular activities.
FeedbackAccording to Zim Morning Post, ZINARA irregularly contracted Zanu PF legislator Dexter Nduna’s Badon Enterprises for seven projects, Twalumba for four projects, Madz for three projects, Henan/Skindat for five projects, Danny Kasukuwere’s Heingate, Drawcard, Tencraft, Fremus, Bitumen World and Forit.
The publication further claims that Fremus was awarded US$8 million and US$3 million was unaccounted for, Bitumen World (US$9,8 million), Badon Enterprise (US$8million), Madz Construction (US$ 8 million and US$3 million not accountable), Drawcard (US$640 000), Forit (US$2,4 million), Heingate (US$12 million and Tencraft (US$350 000).
