Last week, South African bigger than life TV personality Somizi Mhlongo handed himself to South African Police Service last week on Thursday and was briefly detained at Sandton Police station after he claimed the South African Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula told him that President Ramaphosa was going to extend the lockdown, The Chronicle reports.
According to the publication, Somizi was on Instagram Live with Dineo Ranaka when he made the claims and Fikile Mbalula reported him to the police which resulted in Somizi handing himself to the police. Somizi apologised to South Africa for making such claims.
South Africa Police spokesman, Vish Naidoo confirmed the incident and said Somizi was out on 1000 bail and will appear in court on 30 April.
