Trump Says Some States Have Been Too Tough On Lockdown Regulations
The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has said that some states have been ‘too tough’ lockdown orders.
He made the remarks on Friday during his address of the nation on the coronavirus pandemic that has killed over 37 000 people in that country.
Asked if certain states – Michigan, Minnesota and Virginia – should lift their stay-at-home orders, Trump said:
No, but I think elements of what they’ve done are too much.
Strictness on lockdown regulations is however not peculiar to USA states as there are reports suggesting that some countries are actually shooting at and killing those who defy the regulations.
BBC News reports that law enforcers have killed 18 people in Nigeria since lockdowns began on 30 March.
Reports of abuse have also been reported in Zimbabwe, India and many other countries with security personnel accusing citizens of defying the regulations.
The World Health Organisation advises against lifting the stay-at-home orders saying that can result in a worse-off scenario.
