Employer Of Zim Returnees Housed At Belvedere College Offers To Meet Hotel Bills
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana has reported that the cruise ship employer of Zimbabwean returnees currently quarantined at Belevedere College has offered to pay their hotel bills.
Mangwana added that a new challenge has however arisen, hotels are refusing to take them citing the coronavirus pandemic. Posting on Twitter, Mangwana said:
The cruise ship employer of fellow Zimbabweans housed at Belvedere has now offered to meet hotel bills for them. Hotels not keen, citing the risk of a ”COVID-19 Hotel” label. We are expecting about 50 more cruise ship returnees.
FeedbackOn Monday, Mangwana claimed that the returnees had refused to be quarantined at the institution demanding to be sent to local hotels.
The returnees, however, refuted the claims saying that they only demanded a facility that has running water and not hotels perse.
They said that there was no running water at the college although Mangwana claims that it was reconnected on Monday by Harare City Council.
