The Poverty Datum line which stood at $5293 after soaring by 17% in February has soared to $6420 in March according to ZimStats, New Zimbabwe reports.
According to the statistical agency:
Total Consumption Poverty Line for one person during the same period of March 2020 was $1 284.17 while for an average of five people per household stood at $6,420.80
Meanwhile, inflation also soared from 540.16% to 676.39%. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have reportedly worsened the situation according to the publication the situation has seen retailers pegging prices of basic communities beyond the reach of many Zimbabweans.
