President Emmerson Mnangagwa, as the Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Co-operation (OPDSC) is set to host a one-day Extraordinary Troika Summit in Harare on Tuesday.
In a statement this Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sibusiso Moyo said the Summit, which will consider the security situation in Mozambique, will be attended by Zambian President Edgar Lungu, President of Botswana, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, and the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi. The statement read:
H.E. President Emmerson D. Mnangagwa, the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation will on 19 May 2020 host the one-day Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit of Heads of State and Government plus the Republic of Mozambique in Harare.
The Summit will be attended by H.E. President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, Out-going Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation, H.E. President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, In-coming Chairperson of the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation and H.E. President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, President of the Republic of Mozambique The purpose of the Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit plus Mozambique is to consider the urgent security situation in Mozambique following its formal request to the regional body.
