Speaker of the National Assembly, Jacob Mudenda, has said Finance and Economic Development Minister Mthuli Ncube will be summoned to Parliament to explain the current economic crisis.
Mudenda said this while responding to Rushinga legislator Tendai Nyabani (ZANU PF), in Parliament on Wednesday. Said Mudenda:
Honourable Nyabani makes some intelligent suggestions regarding our economy and what must be done.
The Minister of Finance will probe into the matter and certainly give a ministerial statement to parliament soon.
Nyabani had demanded that Ncube should be summoned to Parliament as it appeared that authorities were doing nothing while prices of goods and services continued to skyrocket. Nyabani said:
We are just seated here in parliament, going to constituencies to see people whom we have nothing to tell anymore whilst things are getting out of hand.
Zimbabwe’s perennial economic problems are showing no signs of abating, with fuel now in short supply, prices of goods rising on a weekly basis and the local currency losing value on the parallel market daily.
