1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement Donates Food To Victims Of Police Brutality In Bulawayo - Report

1893 Mthwakazi Human Rights Restoration Movement last week donated food to 2 Bulawayo Cowdry Park sisters Nokuthula and Ntombizodwa Mpofu who were victims of police brutality after they reportedly violated lockdown restrictions on 16 April 2020, Bulawayo24 reports.

The food was handed to the sisters by the organisation’s Deputy Executive Director Mr Greater Sibanda who said:

At a time when voices are loud in speaking out against Gender Based Violence ,it is unforgivable that perpetrators be found amongst law enforcement officers.

We as 1893 Mthwakazi Restoration of Human rights are deeply concerned by the manner in which the outside world is silent on matters affecting the people of MaNdebeleland.

The silence is deafening, we thought they had mended their ways from their silence on Gukurahundi, but here we are, women of this region were brutally assaulted in broad day light and they all went mute, a couple of days later some women in Mashonaland are abducted and there was International outcry!

The people of this region must therefore establish that they are alone and no one will fix their problems for them. They have to stand up and solve their own issues.

A tearful Nokhuthula reportedly thanked the organisation for the donation and reiterated that she was still traumatised by the incident which she called “a dehumanising treatment.”
