World football body FIFA has reportedly claimed it is following the Gift Banda ZIFA case which remains unresolved for over 500 days, The Chronicle reports.
Banda was suspended for allegedly bypassing the powers of the committee and making changes to the senior national team technical set up when he announced the appointment of Tonderayi Ndiraya and Bongani Mafu as the Warriors’ assistant coaches, replacing Lloyd Mutasa and Rahman Gumbo
The ZIFA disciplinary committee chaired by Tendai Masawi, however, exonerated Banda, by ruling that he didn’t dismiss anyone but was simply making recommendations and none of the parties involved received confirmation letters.
ZIFA then lodged an appeal with the Zifa Appeals Committee but failed to pay the $125 000 appeal fee which prompted the committee to uphold the disciplinary committee’s ruling.
FIFA according to the publication, said it is keenly following the case after ZIFA lost its appeal and it will make a pronouncement soon in an email to the publication’s inquiry:
Thank you for your email, we are checking internally and will get back to you as soon as possible
