Lieutenant Colonel Edson Sithole has died, The Herald reports. Sithole reportedly died at UBH last Saturday after a short illness. 61-year-old Sithole was declared a liberation national hero and was buried at Nkulumane Provincial Heroes Acre in Bulawayo on Wednesday.
Director Army Public Relations Lieutenant Colonel Alphios Makotore released a statement about Sithole’s death and said:
The late senior officer was attested into the Zimbabwe National Army on March 25, 1980 as a private and rose through the ranks to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He served in various units, among them 21 Infantry Battalion, 11 Infantry Battalion and Army Headquarters.
