Stanley Nleya who died on Tuesday at UBH has been declared a national hero, The Chronicle reports. Nleya who was one of the Zimbabwe People’s Revolutionary Army’s (ZIPRA) commanders succumbed to heart disease and his hero status was announced by the Zanu PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu this afternoon.
While announcing his hero status at the Nleya family residence in Luveve today, Obert Mpofu according to the publication:
said Cde Nleya was declared a national hero in recognition of his contributions towards the liberation of Zimbabwe.
Details of the day of burial are still not known.
