Isando Community In Nkayi District Gets Piped Water
A small community in Nkayi District, Isando, is set to get piped water as a 12 KM piped water scheme pioneered by some organisations including UNICEF is nearing completion after efforts to drill boreholes in the area failed due to low water table, ZBC News reports.
An exited villager spoke to the publication about the project and said:
We used to go as far as Kana mission and Somakandana in search of water, it was not easy, these forests were still thick and I remember a dreadful incident when I was almost raped on my way to fetch water, this development has finally brought smiles to us
FeedbackNkayi North Legislator Sithembiso Nyoni also commented on the project and said:
This water project has transformed lives of these villagers, what is more commendable are women who are doing wonders in their homesteads
Organisations that were part of the project include, Christian Care, UNICEF and the District Water and Sanitation Sub-Committee (DWSC).
