Aston Villa coach, Dean Smith is optimistic the Blue and Clarets army can still avoid relegation.
He spoke to the media ahead of their travel to Newcastle United. Smith said:
It certainly could do, but I would like to be out of it before the last day. We’ve got to go and win some games to do that.
Losing didn’t take too many teams away from us, but we gave it our all. The lads put a lot of effort into that Chelsea game and it was a good defensive display as well.
As I’ve said, we did the debrief after and the lads felt they were always in the game. That’s important because there have been some games where we haven’t.”
The Villains have been losing form recently with losses immediately before the suspension of the league in March plunging them into the bottom 3.
Aston Villa have to win their remaining seven (7) games of the season if they are to entertain any hope of remaining in the top flight league.
Relegation will be a huge blow for Zimbabwean international, Marvelous Nakamba who joined the club this season from Belgium side Club Brugge.
