King Lion Bus Accident Survivor Sues The Bus Company

A man who survived the horrific King Lion Bus accident on 7 June 2017 that claimed the lives of 43 people after the King Lion Bus they were travelling in rammed into a tree in Karoi, is suing King Lion Bus Company and the deceased driver who also lost his life in the accident, the Chronicle reports.

Khulani Ndlovu who is now disabled after the accident is seeking  $1 027 950 in damages, disfigurement, pain and medical expenses, cited King Lion Bus as the first respondent and Mrs Joyce Ruzvidzo the executor of her deceased husband(the bus driver)’s estate.

In the papers filed at the High Court by Ndlovu’s lawyers Masiye-Moyo and Associates, Ndlovu said;

The accident was due to the negligence of the first defendant (King Lion Motorways Bus Company) in that it failed to service or maintain the vehicle to keep it roadworthy. First defendant is therefore vicariously liable

As a result of the accident I suffered damages in the amount of US$16 449, $1 027 950 and R800 for estimated future medical expenses, special damages and general damages due to pain and suffering, disfigurement and loss of amenities

Ndlovu who also claimed he lost US$4 701 and R800 in the accident and also said the bus driver was speeding and he ignored the passengers’ advice to reduce speed.
