Former Warriors captain Benjani Mwaruwari has said the football fraternity must rally behind former warriors winger Alois Bunjira who has announced his decision to run for ZIFA presidency in 2022, the Daily News reports. Speaking to South African Sports reporter Robert Marawa, Mwaruwari said:
Bunjira is running for presidency, I think we need to support him. Let’s hope he’s ready, I spoke to him two weeks ago and I said I will be there for you and I will support you.He (Bunjira) asked me if I’m still going to run and I said I’m still preparing myself so go ahead and do it. We will support you and all the footballers if they see you, they will support you. Let’s hope he will (be able to) change football in Zimbabwe.
Bunjira initially wanted to run for the presidency in 2018 but he could not meet the 40 year age ceiling started in the bylaws. UK based administrator Ellen Chiwenga has hinted that she will throw her head in the game in 2022 as well.
