MDC Alliance’s Mutare Provincial Deputy Secretary Itai Musaka Arrested While Shopping or Loitering Ahead Of The 31 July Planned Protest

ZRP officers today arrested MDC Alliance Mutare Provincial Deputy Secretary Itai Musaka for loitering as he was shopping in Mutare, Zim Morning post reports.

Musaka who protested that he was within the 5kms radius from his home stipulated by the lockdown restrictions’ arrest comes amid protests by MDC Alliance members that the law enforcement officers are targeting members of the opposition in a bid to stop 31 July impending demonstrations.

Musaka’s arrest was confirmed by MDC Alliance provincial spokesperson David Panganai who said;

We had to pay an admission of guilt fine of $500 to avoid being locked up and placed at risk of contracting coronavirus. The entire city is teeming with people going about their business and his arrest was targeted and clearly meant to harass me

The ZRP has also published a list of activists they are looking for so that they can interview them ahead of the planned demonstrations.
