Techzim, a local technology business has introduced educational content via their WhatsApp bot. So far they are offering Mathematics for Form 2 up to Form 4. This is what they say about their solution:
When lockdowns started being effected, we reasoned that most students in Zimbabwe were not going to have access to tools like Zoom for online lessons. We therefore decided to use WhatsApp which is more accessible but still we didn’t want to just send notes. Our desire was to try as much as we can to automate a teacher in a way that is relevant to WhatsApp itself.
The experience of the maths lessons is indeed an attempt to automate teaching for WhatsApp. Students go through lessons in bite sizes and they get a lot of examples to go through as well as tests/quizzes with answers supplied at the end. Subscription for the service is ZW$19.99 per month.gimp
