The former president of South African opposition Democratic Alliance, Mmusi Maimane, has requested a meeting with Zimbabwe’s Consulate in Cape Town with regards to reports of human rights violation on Zimbabwe.
Below is Maimane’s letter to the Consulate in which he requests for the meeting.
In light of disturbing reports of violence, intimidation, torture and detention without trial being carried out by the Zimbabwean government against citizens, opposition voices and journalists, I write to you to request a formal meeting tomorrow morning, Friday 07 August 2020, at 10h00.
The purpose of this meeting is to register our concerns over these reports, to seek an explanation from your government, and to seek an assurance that the matter will be dealt with in an urgent manner.
I look forward to your response.Yours Faithfully,
Mmusi Maimane
