Govt Speaks On Re-opening Schools And Alternatives To Physical Class Studies
The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has hinted on the suspension of the 2020 academic year over the coronavirus.
The Primary and Secondary Education Deputy Minister Edgar Moyo told The Sunday News that it was premature to announce new dates for the schools’ calendar considering the escalation in the number of coronavirus cases in the country. Moyo said:
We are presently monitoring trends, particularly Covid-19 local infections. If they continue escalating, as they are doing now, we will have to defer re-opening further mainly as a means of protecting our learners and teachers.
FeedbackAs a ministry, we have continued readying ourselves for the eventual re-opening through the purchasing of PPE and perfecting our (education) modules.
He added that the ministry has also been been fine-tuning radio lessons which are being used as an alternative to physical class studies.
Moyo indicated that the plans to produce physical modules related to the radio lessons for communities that do not get radio signals were already underway.
