Zambian leader President Edgar Lungu has thanked his Zimbabwean counterpart, President Emmerson Mnangagwa for helping his country resolve a border dispute with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
President Lungu expressed his gratitude to President Mnangagwa during the 4th SADC Virtual Ordinary Heads of States Summit and Governments hosted by Mozambique this Monday.
The border issue between Zambia and DRC was resolved during President Mnangagwa’s one-year tenure as the chairperson of the SADC Troika on Peace, Politics and Security Cooperation.
Zambian Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji said SADC has ratified the 1989 border treaty between Zambia and DRC, with the process of putting up beacons expected to be undertaken soon.
During today’s summit, Tanzania handed over the Chairpersonship of SADC to Mozambique.
