Lawyers representing MDC Alliance MP Joanna Mamombe have asked for a temporary suspension of her bail reporting conditions because she is not feeling well and is actually under the care of a psychiatrist, Daily News reports.
Mamombe’s Lawyer Alec Muchadehama told the court that Mamombe who is facing charges of faking her abduction is unstable:
The accused has been taken ill and currently under the care of a psychiatrist because of her unstable condition… the doctor had recommended a further two weeks to manage her and proposed the suspension till September 25.
The state did not oppose Muchadehama’s application and the magistrate granted the application. Mamombe and 2 other MDC activists were abducted at a protest in Warren Park and were tortured before they were dumped near Bindura. The government has accused the ladies of faking their abduction.
