Luis Suarez has left FC Barcelona to join LaLiga rivals Atletico Madrid for six million euros ($A10 million) following a failed attempt to join Juventus.
He is one of the players whom Barca’s new coach, Ronald Koeman has shown the exit door as he embarks on a restructuring process.
Other players are Arturo Vidal and Ivan Rakitic, while French defender Samuel Umtiti is also set to leave.
Spanish television channel Gol showed Suarez wiping away tears with his sleeve as he drove off after he was told over the summer that he was no longer required by the new coach.
The Uruguay international joined Barcelona in 2014 from Liverpool went on to win the following titles:
- La Liga: 4
- Champions League: 1
