Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has appealed to the international community for donations to revive Zimbabwe’s ailing Health system, New Zimbabwe reports.
Chiwenga was speaking while receiving a donation of 3 ambulances from Redan Coupons when he said:
As we appreciate this wholemark of corporate social responsibility exhibited by Redan Coupon Pvt Ltd, l am calling upon the international community, our brothers and sisters in the diaspora, development partners and the corporate world to contribute to this worthy cause
Chiwenga also thanked Redan and said their donation was timely and beneficial to the health sector and it will help the country to overcome the challenges of ambulance shortages:
I would like the beneficiaries of these ambulances to take good care of the vehicles and the equipment in order to appreciate the good intentions of those who have made this kind gesture.
This donation will help the country overcome the challenges of poor ambulance services.
The VP’s appeal comes at a time nurses have complained that Chiwenga is militarizing the health sector and a third of the nurses are going to be made contract workers.
