Underfire ZMF boss Henrietta Rushwaya had been slapped with 2 additional charges during her ongoing gold smuggling scandal, which is before the court following her arrest on Monday while she was trying to smuggle gold out of Zimbabwe, New Zimbabwe reports.
Rushwaya during her bail application hearing today was informed that she will be charged with bribery and unlawfully possession of gold.
Furthermore, Harare Magistrate Ngoni Nduna granted the state’s application to withdraw its consent that had proposed that she be granted bail and submit her lawyer’s title deeds as surety.
In granting the state’s application Nduna said:
To say there will be prejudice will not be enough if not substantiated. It was incumbent for the defence to enumerate the prejudice the accused would suffer but they chose not to do so.
The magistrate said issues raised by the state were strong enough to sustain its application. I therefore found that the prayer to withdraw the concession was met. Accordingly, the prayer is granted,
The scandal saw two people being suspended Henrietta herself the Zimbabwe Miners Federation boss and Stephen Tserayi who was President Mnangagwa’s chauffeur driver who was suspended on Wednesday after he was implicated in the scandal.
