Moana's Parents Fight Over Her Remains
The father and mother of deceased fitness bunny, Michelle ‘Moana’ Amuli are reportedly fighting over the remains of their daughter.
Mr Ishamel Amuli is reportedly demanding that his daughter be buried the “Muslim way” as he was of the Muslim faith, a stance that does not auger well with Moana’s biological mother.
Moana died together with two friends when Genius Ginimbi Kadungure’s Rolls Royce Wraith was involved in a head-on collision with a Honda Fit along Borrowdale last week before veering off the road, hitting a tree and catching fire.
The fitness trainer and others aboard were burnt beyond recognition prompting a DNA test on their remains to be conducted.
At Moana’s funeral wake in Highfields last Sunday, Mr Amuli opened up on his fractured relationship with his daughter whom he said was living in a manner not approved by the Muslim community.
An anonymous family member told Zim Morning Post that Moana’s mother argues that Mr Amuli should have nothing to do with their daughter’s funeral since he had differences with the socialite. Said the source:
Amuli has previously not hidden his dislike of the lifestyle that Moana was leading – a socialite, a video vixen and model career, saying it was against his beliefs and the way he had brought her up.
Michy’s biological mother abandoned her at 18 months and she was raised by her father and step-mother whom she was very close to until about two years ago when her father slapped her for venturing into the socialite lifestyle.
So when she died she had found her way back to her biological mother because her father did not accept the lifestyle she had chosen.
Moana who was making headway into the arts industry after featuring in music videos of a number of prominent musicians including Jah Praizah’s Munyaradzi, Enzo Ishal and Takura is scheduled to be buried tomorrow.
It is not clear as to how the wrangle over her remains will affect the funeral program.
A church service is set for Doves Funeral Services in the Central Business District at 12 mid-day today.
