Grade 7 Pupil Stabbed To Death By Classmate

A Grade 7 pupil at Mwacheta Primary School in Chipinge was stabbed to death with a knife by his classmate on their way from school.

The boy was confirmed dead upon admission at the Chipinge District Hospital this Tuesday.

The pupil from Macheta community under Chief Musikavanhu reportedly is said to have died due to excessive bleeding after he was stabbed once on the heart.

The tragedy was confirmed by Chipinge District Schools Inspector, Mr Richard Gabaza, who said details that led to the incident are still sketchy.

Mr Gabaza also indicated that the police had picked up suspects for questioning.

The incident comes amid reports of wayward behaviour among learners particularly since the reopening of schools on the 28th of September.

Some observers attribute the behaviour to teachers’ absence in school saying there is no one to monitor and control learners.

Teachers embarked on industrial action when schools reopened demanding the restoration of their 2018 salaries which were around USD500.
