With the rains now pouring across Zimbabwe, farmers are working hard to utilize the water effectively. But not all farmers are able to maximise the opportunity because of the lack of knowledge.
A local agro-consultancy company, Peta Agro Initiatives, is offering to visit farms of all sizes, including backyard ones, to solve this problem. The company’s qualified agriculture officers will get on the ground, assess and advise farmers on how best to increase productivity and profitability for the coming 12 months.
This includes farmers of crops, animals, as well as fruit trees.
Said a Peta Agro Initiatives representative:
We have introduced this new package after realising that most farmers lack the knowledge to improve their productivity and profitability using what they already have. So our agriculture officers will get on the ground and audit farmers’ existing systems and production, and thereafter provide a detailed report highlighting areas of improvement and how they can optimise their operations.

1. Commercial Farmers: USD50
2. Small Scale Farmers: USD30
3. Backyard and Balcony Farmers: USD15
4. If outside Harare, transport charges of USD0.10 per km from Harare.
