Logarusic Reshuffles Warriors CHAN Squad
Zimbabwe national football team coach Zdravko Logarušić has reportedly dropped six players from the African Nations Championships (CHAN) squad who failed to impress in friendly matches against local clubs.
The affected players have been named as Valentine Musarurwa, Valentine Kadonzvo, Collins Duwa, Phineas Bhamusi, Xolani Ndlovu and William Manondo.
There was, however, no confirmation of this development from national team general manager Wellington Mupandare on Sunday but NewsDay reported sources saying the Croatian had already identified players that would be drafted as replacements.
Those who impressed Loga during the friendlies and are likely to be drafted into the fold include Caps United pair of Tafadzwa Njaravani and former Warriors midfielder Richard Hachiro.
The Warriors played three friendly matches last week against Ngezi Platinum Stars, Caps United and Yadah Stars to assess the players in camp.
The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) are still in negotiations with possible opponents for other friendlies and it is believed that Dynamos and FC Platinum have both agreed to the friendly matches.
The team will break camp on Monday for the festive season and regroup seven days later.
The CHAN tournament starts on January 16 with Zimbabwe playing hosts Cameroon before facing Burkina Faso and Mali in other Group A matches.
