The Law Society of Zimbabwe has reportedly deregistered three lawyers after they failed to disclose their past convictions to the body, The Herald reports.
This was revealed by the Law Society If Zimbabwe which reportedly said the trio, Rosewitter Mademo, Auxillia Mangwaira and Andrew Hamandishe were deregistered after a Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal that was held on December 1 this year.
According to the publication:
The three were deleted from the register of the Legal Practitioners, Conveyancers and Notaries Public.
Madembo and Mangwaira were both found to have failed to disclose a criminal conviction involving dishonest or corrupt dealing when applying for registration as a legal practitioner.
Hamandishe had been convicted of misappropriating trust funds and fraud.
The Law Society also said it does not have the power to regulate a deregistered lawyer and it will not be liable if anyone is prejudiced after engaging with a deregistered lawyer.
The Law society deregistered these 9 lawyers last year.
