Police in Mahusekwa, Mashonaland East province, have finally apprehended Nhamo Katsukunya (40) of Rustenburg Farm who has been on the run for more than a month after he brutally beat his son, Emmanuel (12), using switches leaving him seriously injured.
Emmanuel was brutally assaulted by his father for allegedly leaving the family garden unattended and has been hospitalised for more than a month at Marondera Hospital.
Katsukunya’s arrest was confirmed by Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Tendai Mwanza. He said:
Nhamo Katsukunya was arrested recently during a midnight police raid at his homestead.
He was believed to have been coming to sleep at the homestead during the night and leaving the same place in the wee hours of the next morning.
Police received that information and a raid was conducted leading to his arrest.
The accused is currently remanded in custody while Emmanuel is recuperating in Mudzi where he was taken by his mother after being discharged from hospital.
The boy is having his wounds dressed and attended to at Kotwa Hospital in Mudzi District.
