French president, Emmanuel Macron, has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now scheduled to self-isolate for the next week.
In a statement, the presidency said Macron was tested after the “onset of the first symptoms.” Reads the statement:
The president tested positive for COVID-19 today (Thursday).
He will continue to work and carry out his activities remotely.
Macron joins a handful of prominent figures around the world who have so far tested positive for the coronavirus.
The list includes United States’ Donald Trump, United Kingdom’ Boris Johnson and Brazilian Jair Bolsonaro.
