Reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions FC Platinum secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Simba SC of Tanzania in the first leg of the CAF Champions League group stage qualifier played at the National Sports Stadium in Harare on Wednesday.
The only goal that separated the two side was netted by midfielder Perfect Chikwende in the second half.
Chikwende could have given his side the second goal late in the second half, but after breaching the Simba defence, he was thwarted by goalkeeper Claytous Chama in a one-on-one situation.
The win gives Pure Platinum Play the advantage ahead of the return leg set for January 6 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Winners after the two-legged encounter will proceed to the group stage.
