Journalist Hopewell Chin’ono said MDC Alliance president Nelson Chamisa should avoid the mistakes made by his predecessor Morgan Tsvangirai who allowed the party to be infiltrated right up to the top by ZANU PF agents.
Posting on Facebook on Saturday, Chin’ono used Tsvangirai’s head of security Pearson Mbalekwa and Thabhani Vusa Mpofu, who now heads the Special Anti-corruption Unit (SACU) as examples of regimes agents who were trusted by Tsvangirai. Wrote Chin’ono:
Nelson Chamisa should avoid Tsvangirai’s infiltration.
Tsvangirai’s head of security Pearson Mbalekwa is working in Mnangagwa’s office today in the unit that has been persecuting us called SACU.
His head of legal Thabani Vusa Mpofu is working in Mnangagwa’s office today heading SACU.
His spokesman James Maridadi is Mnangagwa’s ambassador today in Senegal.
I could go on naming them.
MDC’s failures have not been exclusively linked to ZANUPF’s violence, but also to its inabilities to take advice.
How does a leader run a party successfully when surrounded like that, then you add the Khupes, Mwonzora, Komichi and the Mudzuris who were in it for money!
Infiltration is a danger to succeeding!
In another Facebook post on Sunday, Chin’ono told MDC Alliance supporters to “sit down” after they attacked him on social media for criticising the party leadership’s alleged ineptitude. He said:
When I posted about the MDC’s 2020 weaknesses yesterday, some of its supporters chose to attack me accusing me of supporting the coup in 2017.
Such people have no moral right of saying that when they Praise and Worship their leaders who were at the forefront of sanitizing the military take over, the coup!
They should sit down, we know more, we just haven’t said it because it is unnecessary!
An opposition supporter who doesn’t want his leaders or party to be constructively criticized is no different to a ZANU-PF supporter who is angry when we expose corruption!
MDC leaders led by Tsvangirai supported the coup, they sanitized it on international TV and said that it wasn’t a coup.
