Mnangagwa Appoints SB Moyo, JB Matiza & Mutodi Replacements

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has made key Cabinet appointments and re-assignments following the death of several ministers last month due to COVID-19.

Frederick Shava, until now Zimbabwe’ Ambassador to the United Nations (UN), is now the new Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister while Chikomba Central MP Felix Tapiwa Mhona is the new Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister.

The late Sibusiso Busi Moyo held the Foreign Affairs portfolio while Joel Biggie Matiza was Transport Minister.

Deputy Home Affairs Minister Mike Madiro will deputise Mhona while Kindness Paradza becomes the new Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, taking over from Energy Mutodi who was fired last year.

Chimanimani West MP Nokuthula Matsikenyere replaces the departed Ellen Gwaradzimba as the new Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution and  Ruth Mavhunga-Maboyi takes over as the Home Affairs Deputy Minister.

Below is a statement by George Charamba, the Press Secretary in the Office of the President of Zimbabwe, announcing the appointments:

His Excellency the President, Cde ED Mnangagwa has made two Cabinet appointments, among other appointments. Ambassador Dr FREDERICK Shava, until now our UN Ambassador, is now the new Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister following the recent demise of Dr SB Moyo.

Hon Mhona, MP for Chikomba Central becomes the new Transport Minister, filling the gap left by late Dr Biggie Joel Matiza. Deputy Minister Mike Madiro relocates from Home Affairs to Transport and Infrastructural Development.

Hon Kindness Paradza becomes the new Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services. He replaces Hon Mutodi.

Hon Matsikenyere, MP for Chimanimani West becomes the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in charge of Manicaland.

Hon Mabhoyi-Ncube from Beitbridge joins Home Affairs as Deputy Minister.
