ZANU PF Central Committee member Madeyi Maswi has succumbed to COVID-19. She was 54.
Maswi’s death was confirmed by family spokesperson Takunda Maswi who is also her son.
Takunda said her mother died on Thursday at St Anne’s hospital in Harare after she tested positive for the coronavirus and was hospitalised for more than a week.
Maswi is survived by her husband Christopher and three children; Tanyaradzwa (26), Takunda (24) and Tinotenda (20).
Mashonaland Central ZANU PF chairperson Kazembe Kazembe, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage described the late Maswi as a hardworking cadre. He said:
We have lost a very hard working person, she represented the party at Constitution Parliamentary Select Committee (COPAC) and Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) among other important bodies.
At one point she was sent to China to the China Communist Party in an exchange program.
