A suspected rapist left his cellphone at the scene of his crime after he had violated a 6-year-old girl in Mberengwa.
The 32-year-old (name supplied) committed the crime on 17 February this year in Chief Mudavanhu’s area.
The suspect allegedly broke into a room, raped the minor and left his mobile phone which tied him to the act.
He appeared before Mberengwa Magistrate Evia Mudavanhu recently and was remanded in custody to 23 April 2021.
Prosecutor Faith Mwale told the court that the accused entered into a homestead and broke a door at the room where the minor was sleeping alone.
She the suspect accidentally dropped his phone before fleeing.
The matter was reported at Mberengwa Police station and the mobile phone was traced back to him leading to his arrest.
