Two Zimbabwean international footballers, Tino Kadewere and Marshall Munetsi who ply their trade with French Ligue 1 sides, Lyon and Reims respectively clash in a Ligue 1 match tonight.
Reims have won only two of their last nine Ligue 1 games against Lyon (D2 L5), this after having won two of their first three such meetings in the 21st century beforehand (L1).
This meeting comes when Lyon have already picked up 59 points after 28 games played in Ligue 1 this season, their third-highest tally at this stage of the competition, after 2005-06 and 2006-07 (62 points in both when they would go on to win the title).
Munetsi starts for Reims who are unbeaten in their last three home games against Lyon in Ligue 1, winning twice (in May 2016 and August 2018) and drawing the other in December 2019 (1-1).
Tino starts from the bench tonight.
Reims are the only opponent against which Lyon have won more than one penalty in Ligue 1 without scoring one since Opta began analysing the competition in 2006-07 (3 attempts).
Both Tino and Marshall together with and eight other players have been ruled out of Zimbabwe’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches against Zambia and Botswana.
