The ruling ZANU PF has said all new members including those who defected from the opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) will rise through party structures and will be elevated based on their performance.
This approach was announced by ZANU PF spokesperson, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo this Friday amid allegations that former MDC members were joining the ruling party for greedy reasons including influential positions and money.
In recent weeks, a number of high profile opposition MDC officials, current and former, including Obert Gutu, Lilian Timveos, and Blessing Chebundo joined ZANU PF amid intra-party conflict in the MDC.
Ambassador SK Moyo however indicated that all the new members who have joined the party and were position holders in other parties begin as card-carrying members and will be elevated based on their performance.
He made the remarks at a post-politburo briefing held in the capital this Friday.
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Timveos and Chebundo are set to enrol with the Hebert Chitepo School of ideology which is the ZANU PF institution used to orient party members on party ideology.
SK Moyo also stated that the ZANU PF Politburo had also applauded all opposition parties that accompanied President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Victoria Falls where he launched the second phase of the National Vaccination Programme this Thursday.
