Case of VP Chiwenga 's Estranged Wife Marry Commences In Hospital
Harare magistrate Letwin Rwodzi Monday presided over Marry Chiwenga nee Mubaiwa’s remand hearing at a Harare hospital where she is receiving treatment.
The estranged wife to Vice President Constantino Chiwenga had failed to attend trial commencement for one of her cases due to ill health.
Mubaiwa who is facing a number of charges including money laundering, attempted murder and externalisation of funds appeared before the magistrate over assault charges.
Representing the State, prosecutor Clemence Muchemwa, alleged that the former model attacked VP Chiwenga’s maid at Hellenic School in Borrowdale last year. She denies the charges.
It is said that she allegedly assaulted the family maid, Delight Munyoro (36) who had gone to pick up the children from the primary school as part of her normal duties.
However, when she got there, Marry demanded access to the children but Munyoro, who had orders not to allow her, told Marry that this was not possible until the custody dispute between her and Chiwenga was settled.
Mubaiwa was infuriated by the response and allegedly assaulted Munyoro.
Beatrice Mtetwa, one of Marry’s lawyers said Magistrate Rwodzi postponed the trial to 29 June 2021.
