Govt Order Teachers To Attend Workshop On A Public Holiday
The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has expressed outrage over the decision by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to order teachers to attend Continuous Assessment Learning Areas Workshops on 25 May, which is a public holiday.
PTUZ president Takavafira Zhou described the decision by the Ministry to order teachers to attend a workshop on Africa Day as “lunacy”, saying teachers will disregard the directive. He said in a statement:
For the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education to order teachers to attend Continuous Assessment Learning Areas Workshops on Africa Day is the worst lunacy, given the historical significance of this day in the liberation of African countries in general and Zimbabwe in particular.
FeedbackIn support of the liberation legacy, all capacitated and incapacitated teachers in Zimbabwe must resist CALA training workshops on 25 May 2021. We will not accept directives that urinate upon us and tell us it’s raining.
